Terms of Service
Last updated: August 6, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of OffGridHVAC.com, including all purchases, tools, guides, calculators, content, products, services, and communications offered through the website.
OffGridHVAC is operated by The Salty Medic LLC, a Missouri limited liability company. Throughout these Terms, “OffGridHVAC,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to The Salty Medic LLC and the OffGridHVAC storefront.
By visiting OffGridHVAC.com, using any part of the website, submitting information, or placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Service and all policies incorporated into them by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or place an order.
1. About OffGridHVAC
OffGridHVAC is a specialty online retailer focused primarily on complete 115V mini-split systems, directly related installation accessories, and educational planning resources for cabins, tiny homes, RVs, trailers, workshops, garages, remote buildings, and other smaller spaces.
OffGridHVAC is operated by the same independent retail company that operates MRCOOL DIY Direct. References to MRCOOL DIY Direct describe our related retail business and do not mean that OffGridHVAC or MRCOOL DIY Direct is the manufacturer MRCOOL.
MRCOOL and any other manufacturer names, product names, logos, and trademarks displayed on this website belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not transfer ownership of those marks to OffGridHVAC.
2. Eligibility to Use the Website
You must be at least the age of majority in your state of residence to place an order through this website. By using the website or placing an order, you represent that:
- You are legally able to enter into a binding agreement.
- The information you provide is current, accurate, and complete.
- You are purchasing for a lawful purpose.
- You will not use our products, services, or content in violation of applicable law.
You may not use our products or website for any unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized purpose.
3. Store Policies Incorporated into These Terms
The following policies are incorporated into these Terms of Service:
If a conflict exists between these Terms and a more specific store policy, the more specific policy controls for that subject.
4. Product Information
We make reasonable efforts to provide accurate product titles, model numbers, specifications, descriptions, photographs, included components, line-set lengths, availability information, and pricing.
Manufacturer information may change without notice. Product photographs may also show optional accessories, installation examples, lifestyle settings, or representative equipment that is not included unless expressly listed on the product page.
Before purchasing, review the exact product page and confirm:
- System model and capacity
- Voltage and electrical requirements
- Indoor-unit color
- Included line-set length
- Selected line-set configuration
- Included and optional accessories
- Current availability status
- Installation and clearance requirements
- Manufacturer warranty terms
Contact us before ordering if any product detail is unclear. Do not rely solely on a photograph, search result, advertisement, comparison card, or third-party description when deciding whether a product is appropriate for your project.
5. Complete-System Configurations
HVAC products described as complete systems generally include the indoor unit, outdoor unit, and the components specifically listed on the applicable product page.
The standard included pre-charged line-set length varies by product series. When a longer configuration is selected, the package may include:
- The standard factory-included pre-charged line set
- A compatible line-set coupler
- An additional pre-charged line-set extension
- Additional control or communication wire for the selected configuration
An extended configuration may use multiple connected line-set sections and is not necessarily one continuous line set.
The product page and selected Shopify variant determine the configuration you are purchasing. The customer is responsible for selecting a length suitable for the planned installation while remaining within the manufacturer’s permitted limits.
6. Product Selection, Sizing & Suitability
Information on this website is intended to help you compare products and prepare questions. It is not a substitute for a site-specific heating and cooling load calculation, electrical evaluation, installation plan, engineering analysis, or professional inspection.
Square footage alone does not determine the correct system size. Important factors may include:
- Climate and outdoor temperature
- Insulation and air leakage
- Window size and orientation
- Ceiling height
- Occupancy
- Solar heat gain
- Equipment and internal heat loads
- Door-opening frequency
- Desired indoor temperature
- Primary versus supplemental use
You are responsible for confirming that the selected equipment is appropriate for your property, intended use, climate, installation location, electrical system, and applicable building requirements.
A recommendation, product-finder result, comparison, article, email, or informal conversation does not guarantee that a product is suitable for a particular building or application.
7. Power Planner, Product Finder & Website Tools
OffGridHVAC may provide calculators, product finders, comparisons, battery-runtime estimates, solar-production estimates, inverter checks, generator guidance, and similar planning tools.
These tools provide estimates based on the information entered and assumptions shown. Actual performance may vary because of:
- Outdoor and indoor temperature
- Equipment operating stage and duty cycle
- Startup and transient loads
- Battery age, temperature, chemistry, and condition
- Inverter efficiency and surge capability
- Generator quality and voltage stability
- Solar conditions, shading, season, weather, and panel orientation
- Wiring losses
- Other connected electrical loads
- Installation quality
- Changes in manufacturer ratings or equipment
Calculator and product-finder results are not promises, warranties, engineering determinations, or guarantees of compatibility, runtime, performance, or code compliance.
Confirm the final system size, circuit requirements, inverter capacity, battery capacity, generator suitability, solar design, and installation method with qualified professionals before purchasing or installing equipment.
8. Electrical & Installation Responsibility
HVAC systems contain electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, drainage, and structural components. Improper installation may cause equipment damage, electrical hazards, water damage, loss of performance, property damage, injury, or loss of warranty coverage.
You are responsible for:
- Reviewing the manufacturer’s manuals before installation
- Following all manufacturer instructions
- Using the correct circuit, disconnect, overcurrent protection, and wiring
- Confirming applicable permits and inspection requirements
- Following federal, state, and local laws and codes
- Maintaining required clearances and service access
- Providing proper condensate drainage
- Properly supporting, routing, and protecting line sets and wiring
- Using qualified or licensed professionals when required
The term “DIY” describes certain manufacturer-designed product features. It does not mean every person, property, installation, jurisdiction, or electrical task is appropriate for unlicensed work.
OffGridHVAC does not act as your contractor, electrician, engineer, code official, building inspector, or installer unless a separate written service agreement expressly states otherwise.
9. Orders
Your submission of an order is an offer to purchase. An automated confirmation means we received the order; it does not necessarily mean the order has been accepted or can be fulfilled.
We reserve the right to:
- Accept or reject an order
- Limit quantities
- Request additional verification
- Correct pricing or product errors
- Cancel suspected fraudulent or unauthorized transactions
- Cancel orders that cannot be fulfilled
- Refuse orders placed for resale, export, or other unauthorized purposes
If we cancel an order after payment has been captured and before any shipment occurs, we will issue any refund required under the applicable store policy and law.
10. Pricing & Payment
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated. Prices, promotions, availability, and product details may change without notice.
We may correct typographical errors, inaccurate prices, incorrect discounts, or other obvious mistakes. If an error affects an order already placed, we may contact you for instructions or cancel and refund the affected order as appropriate.
You agree to provide current and accurate billing information and represent that you are authorized to use the payment method submitted.
Your bank, card issuer, financing provider, digital-wallet provider, or payment processor may impose separate terms, fees, holds, authorization procedures, or processing times.
OffGridHVAC does not guarantee approval for financing, installment payments, or third-party payment services.
11. Taxes
Applicable sales tax and other required charges may be calculated at checkout based on the order, delivery address, sales channel, and applicable law.
You remain responsible for any taxes, permits, fees, assessments, or obligations not collected at checkout when the law places that responsibility on the purchaser.
12. Product Availability
Products and variants may be identified as:
- Available
- Preorder
- Backorder
- Sold out
- Coming soon
- Discontinued
Availability may change before or after an order is submitted because of inventory corrections, manufacturer delays, distributor inventory, damaged stock, carrier conditions, or other events.
Inventory messages are estimates and do not guarantee that a specific unit has been physically reserved until the order has been accepted and allocated.
13. Preorders & Backorders
A preorder or backorder product is not available for immediate shipment. Any expected shipping date or window is an estimate and may change.
By ordering a preorder or backorder item, you acknowledge that:
- The item may not ship immediately.
- Estimated dates are not guaranteed.
- Manufacturer, distributor, or freight delays may occur.
- Separate items in the same order may ship at different times.
- Your payment may be authorized or captured according to the checkout method used.
- Cancellations remain subject to our Return & Refund Policy.
If we cannot ship within the time represented at purchase, we will provide any notice, delay option, cancellation option, or refund required by applicable law.
14. Shipping & Delivery
Shipping and delivery are governed by our Shipping Policy.
Delivery dates and transit times are estimates, not guarantees, unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
Delays may occur because of inventory, weather, carrier capacity, freight-terminal operations, natural disasters, road conditions, address issues, appointment scheduling, customer availability, or other events outside our reasonable control.
Large products may require freight delivery. The customer is responsible for:
- Providing an accurate and accessible delivery address
- Providing a working telephone number
- Responding to carrier scheduling requests
- Being available for the agreed delivery appointment
- Inspecting the shipment before signing when reasonably possible
- Documenting visible damage on the delivery receipt
- Reporting damage within the time required by our policies
Additional carrier charges caused by an incorrect address, missed appointment, refusal, storage, reconsignment, limited access, redelivery, or other customer-caused condition may be charged to the customer or deducted from a refund.
15. Risk of Loss & Shipment Inspection
Risk of loss and title transfer as provided by applicable law and the shipping terms associated with the order.
You must inspect deliveries promptly. Visible damage, shortages, incorrect products, or packaging damage should be documented before accepting the shipment whenever possible.
Keep all cartons, pallets, straps, shipping labels, packing materials, and damaged components until any freight or damage claim has been resolved.
Failure to document or promptly report damage may limit our ability to obtain recovery from a carrier or provide a remedy.
16. Cancellations, Returns & Refunds
Cancellations, returns, fees, exclusions, inspections, and refunds are governed by our Return & Refund Policy.
Do not ship a product back without written return authorization. Unauthorized returns may be refused and returned to the sender.
17. Manufacturer Warranties
Products may include a written warranty offered by the manufacturer. Warranty terms vary by product, model, installation, registration, use, and manufacturer.
Review the applicable warranty documents before purchase and complete any required product registration.
Unless expressly stated in writing, OffGridHVAC does not issue the manufacturer’s warranty and cannot alter or expand its terms.
Final warranty decisions, technical diagnosis, replacement authorization, parts approval, coverage determination, and labor coverage are made by the manufacturer.
OffGridHVAC may provide general assistance, identify relevant documents, and help direct you to the applicable process, but we do not guarantee that a warranty claim will be approved.
18. Installed or Modified Products
Once equipment has been installed, connected, altered, modified, charged, wired, mounted, or subjected to an attempted installation, it is not eligible for return unless required by law or expressly approved in writing.
Post-installation concerns may require manufacturer troubleshooting or warranty service.
Do not alter wiring, open sealed components, modify refrigeration connections, discard parts, or remove equipment unless directed by a qualified professional or the manufacturer.
19. Third-Party Products & Services
The website may reference or link to third-party products, services, manufacturers, installers, carriers, financing providers, payment processors, videos, manuals, websites, or other resources.
We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, availability, conduct, privacy practices, terms, products, or services.
A link, reference, compatibility statement, or mention does not necessarily constitute an endorsement or guarantee.
Your use of a third-party service is governed by that party’s own terms and policies.
20. External Store Links
OffGridHVAC specializes in a focused range of 115V systems. We may direct customers seeking larger capacities, 230V systems, multi-zone systems, central HVAC equipment, replacement parts, or a wider product selection to MRCOOL DIY Direct.
When you leave OffGridHVAC and visit another storefront, the products, prices, inventory, cart, checkout, policies, and order terms displayed on that storefront apply to purchases made there.
21. Reviews, Photos & Other User Content
If you submit a review, photograph, video, project description, question, comment, testimonial, or other content, you represent that:
- You own the content or have permission to submit it.
- The content is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- The content does not violate another person’s rights.
- The content does not contain unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or malicious material.
- The content does not contain private information you are not authorized to disclose.
You grant OffGridHVAC a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, edit, publish, display, distribute, and create derivative works from submitted content in connection with our website, marketing, customer education, social media, and business operations.
We may remove or decline to publish user content at our discretion. We are not required to keep, return, or compensate you for submitted content unless separately agreed in writing.
22. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, the website’s original design, text, graphics, illustrations, calculators, code, layouts, product guides, comparisons, branding, and other original content are owned by or licensed to The Salty Medic LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may use the website for personal, noncommercial shopping and informational purposes.
You may not, without prior written permission:

- Modify, reverse engineer, or circumvent website features
- Use our content to train or populate a competing commercial service
- Remove copyright, trademark, or attribution notices
Manufacturer specifications, manuals, photographs, trademarks, and other manufacturer-provided materials remain the property of their respective owners.
23. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the website:
- For unlawful or fraudulent activity
- To submit false payment, identity, billing, or delivery information
- To interfere with the security or operation of the website
- To introduce malware, malicious code, or harmful automated traffic
- To gain unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or information
- To impersonate another person or organization
- To infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights
- To harass, threaten, defame, or abuse others
- To conduct unauthorized scraping or automated data collection
- To bypass purchase restrictions, availability controls, or checkout safeguards
- To place orders for prohibited resale, diversion, or fraudulent export
We may suspend access, cancel an order, or take other appropriate action if we reasonably believe a prohibited use has occurred.
24. Website Availability & Changes
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website, product catalog, tool, feature, promotion, or service without notice.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Maintenance, technical failures, third-party outages, cyber incidents, platform changes, or events beyond our control may temporarily affect the website.
We may correct errors and update content at any time.
25. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information are described in our Privacy Policy.
By using the website, you acknowledge that your information may be processed by Shopify, payment processors, carriers, analytics providers, communication providers, and other service providers necessary to operate the store and fulfill orders.
26. Email & Electronic Communications
When you contact us, create an account, place an order, or subscribe to communications, you consent to receive necessary electronic messages related to your inquiry, account, transaction, shipment, product availability, policy notice, or customer service request.
Marketing emails are subject to the preferences and unsubscribe options included in those communications.
You are responsible for maintaining a working email address and checking messages related to your order.
27. Disclaimer of Website Information
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and its informational content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We do not warrant that all website content will always be complete, current, uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every project.
Nothing on the website creates a professional engineering, contracting, electrical, architectural, code-consulting, or installation relationship.
This section does not disclaim any written manufacturer warranty, express written commitment made by OffGridHVAC, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be disclaimed.
28. Disclaimer of Implied Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, OffGridHVAC disclaims implied warranties arising from use of the website or sale of products, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, except where such warranties cannot legally be excluded.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions. In those jurisdictions, the exclusions apply only to the extent legally permitted.
29. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Salty Medic LLC, OffGridHVAC, and their owners, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost use, lost data, business interruption, loss of goodwill, or damage arising from installation, removal, property modification, or third-party services.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from a product purchase will not exceed the amount paid to OffGridHVAC for the product giving rise to the claim.
This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot legally be limited.
OffGridHVAC is not responsible for losses caused by:
- Incorrect sizing or product selection
- Improper installation
- Electrical incompatibility
- Code violations
- Incorrect line-set routing or length selection
- Inadequate drainage
- Unqualified service or installation
- Improper inverter, battery, solar, or generator design
- Failure to follow manufacturer instructions
- Unauthorized product alteration
- Third-party products or services
- Conditions outside our reasonable control
30. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Salty Medic LLC, OffGridHVAC, and their owners, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, and service providers from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your unlawful or unauthorized use of the website
- Your infringement of another person’s rights
- Content you submit
- Your installation, modification, misuse, resale, or export of a product
- Your failure to comply with applicable laws, codes, permits, or manufacturer instructions
This provision does not require a consumer to indemnify us for our own unlawful conduct where such an obligation would be prohibited.
31. Force Majeure
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, fire, flood, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, transportation interruption, freight-terminal delays, supply shortages, manufacturer delays, utility failures, cyber incidents, government action, public-health emergencies, or platform outages.
This section does not eliminate any cancellation, delay-notice, or refund right provided by applicable law.
32. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where the consumer-protection laws of another jurisdiction must apply.
Any legal action relating to these Terms or a transaction with OffGridHVAC must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction located in Missouri, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring the claim elsewhere.
33. Informal Dispute Resolution
Before filing a legal claim, please contact us and provide:
- Your name and contact information
- Your order number, if applicable
- A description of the issue
- The resolution you are requesting
- Relevant photographs, documents, and communications
We will make a reasonable effort to review the matter and respond. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent legal relief or exercising rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
34. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. The unenforceable provision will be interpreted or limited to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable where legally permitted.
35. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce that provision later.
36. Assignment
You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written permission. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale, restructuring, financing, or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to applicable law.
37. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the policies incorporated by reference and any written terms presented during checkout, constitute the agreement between you and OffGridHVAC regarding use of the website and purchases made through it.
They replace prior or contemporaneous communications on the same subject, except for a separate written agreement signed by an authorized representative of The Salty Medic LLC.
38. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time by posting a revised version on the website.
The Terms in effect when an order is placed generally apply to that transaction unless a later change is required by law or agreed to by the parties.
Continued use of the website after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms for future use.
